Come join us for the 14th Annual Lithuanian Easter Traditions Day. An event for all ages where we will paint traditional Lithuanian Easter Eggs with Bees wax and dyes or you can bring your previously dyed eggs and scratch your designs in the centuries old folk way. A third and most interesting way of preparing your eggs is with burnt bees wax. Games: We have adapted versions of Lithuanian village games and traditions for all ages. Egg roll: This village tradition where the children go from village to village to compete for eggs. They roll the eggs from boards and the one who hits another egg would be able to claim it for him/her self, much the same as children play for marbles. We have adapted the game to be the one who rolls the furthest wins. For winners of first, second and third places (boys and girls category) there are small prizes to chose from all other children will receive Easter candy . Egg smash: For adults we have the egg smash. In this traditional custom on Easter morning or the Easter meal each family member would take a hard-boiled egg and hit the egg together with your neighbor. The one whose egg cracks loses and the game continues until there is one winner. Everyone will get in a large circle and pair up. One by one the circle gets smaller until we only have two people left. The strongest egg will win and receive a Lithuanian Porcupine cake. What to bring:- Hard boiled eggs, I would suggest at least six eggs per person if not more.
- A pencil with an eraser, one for each member of your group (we will supply pins to stick in the eraser).
- A roll of paper towels, what you don’t use you can take back home.
- Dyes, burners and other supplies will be provided.
Dessert potluck event: Everyone is asked to bring a homemade cake, cookies or other sweets and a bottle of juice or soda pop. Unless otherwise asked please do not bring any other food other then dessert. Coffee and tea will be supplied. As always it is BYO wine or other.
